Olive was approached by the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) to design a visiual identity system that conveyed the unique aspects of each racing division, while leveraging the equity of the existing SCCA identity.
We began the program by simplifying the existing SCCA identity to contemporize the look of the organization while retaining the traditional visual heritage that members embrace. Using the simplified SCCA mark as a foundation, we created identities for the “Racing”, “Solo”, and “Rally” race divisions. A simple slanted tire shape is used to form the letter that represents each category and helps to convey differentiation between the divisions.
Olive created a system that revitalized the core SCCA brand mark while creating unique identities for each category of racing. This system demonstrates overall brand unity while being flexible enough to work in applications ranging from car identifiers to merchandise and sponsor usage.
